Music not only is energy, but it also gives energy - the sound waves hit you both physically and emotionally.

The season opening of the research concerts at NTNU - Department of Music in autumn 2023, is in collaboration with the Culture Council and Hyfer.

In the winter of 2024, the Arts Council Norway will launch the research anthology Creative practices in music (Skapende praksiser i musikk, Fagbokforlaget), which examines how music is created in various ways within the music field in Norway. Through 12 research articles, competences, practices, methods and trends will be examined through musicological contributions and artistic research.

In addition, from September 2023 14 essays about the practices of making music will be released on the Art Council's website throughout the autumn: https://www.kulturdirektoratet.no/skapende-praksiser-i-musikk

At HYFER 2023, the first insights from the project will be presented.

We meet jazz musician and composer Eirik Hegdal in conversation with Torkjell Hovland about Hegdal's creative practices, Notto Thelle and Gyrid Kaldestad who will talk about the machine as a musical co-creator as well as a concert with Magnify the Sound who improvise with a new instrument consisting of guitar, percussion, film and electronic processing of these sources. The result of this interaction is presented in the form of a distinctive audiovisual expression.

Both NTNU's research concert series and the Arts Council's project about creative practices in music aims to present the greatest possible breadth within music research and various musical practices.

The event is open to everyone, and it is free of charge.
